Commitment for clean sport knows no age
"With this campaign, we would also like to appeal to younger athletes not to resort to doping substances in order to continue competitive sport into old age and to grow old in a healthy way," says Reiner Wieneke (66). The retired sports teacher, passionate triathlete and supporter of clean sports was able to complete the triathlon in Glücksburg over the IRONMAN distance together with Jochen Menzel (69) and Rainer Brase (62) in less than 12 hours on 5 August 2018.
The triathletes together give everything in their competitions and stand up #forpureperformance. Discover the story behind the three passionate athletes.

"My name is Reiner Wieneke, I am 66 years old and a retired sports teacher. I started triathlon at the beginning of the eighties. At that time the sport was hardly known, my first racing bike still had mudguards, a lamp and leather straps to fasten the shoes. A fall ring made of leather served as head protection. Very early I discovered my passion for triathlon. With my first successes in the eighties and later as a member of the German national age group team, I was able to participate successfully in many national, German, European and world championships.
My motto has always been and still is: to achieve performance through training and not through prohibited substances.
As a former sports teacher and trainer, I have always tried to make this clear to my students.
When I heard about the campaign "GIVE EVERYTHING, TAKE NOTHING", I was immediately enthusiastic and wanted to support this beautiful campaign. With Rainer Brase (62) and Jochen Menzel (69) I found two doctors and sportsmen who were also enthusiastic about the idea to do an Ironman as a relay and to advertise the action of NADA Germany. The local press supported the campaign with numerous contributions."

"Now began the long time of preparation. The swimmer Rainer Brase, the runner Jochen Menzel and I as a cyclist trained specifically towards our self-set goal of completing the Ironman in Glücksburg under 12 hours.
Our motto was and is performance through training, without doping.
Precisely because we have never resorted to prohibited substances, it is still possible for us to achieve such endurance performances even in our old age.
With this campaign, we would also like to appeal to younger athletes not to resort to doping substances, in order to continue competitive sport into old age and to grow old healthily.
I hope that I will be able to continue to play triathlon in a healthy and successful way for many years to come and that I will be a role model for the younger triathletes".
